When Mom was here at Christmas a couple of years ago, she loved sitting in our rocking chair by the picture window and looking at our garden. Even in winter there are things to see. Birds, our tiny pond, and red foxes, which make their rounds through the yard multiple times throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. Mom named the male Vincent and the female Winnie. I don’t know whether Vincent or Winnie are still alive, and whether this guy is one of them, but we enjoy seeing it. Sometimes foxes wander down the sidewalk out front, like a neighbor’s dog out for a stroll. Once I saw one a few blocks away with a part of a raw chicken in its mouth, a leg and thigh that definitely was something you’d buy at the grocers. Either someone was putting food out, or it had snatched it off a picnic table.
This fox wandered through our back yard this morning, crouching down as he observed the birds at the feeder. Hubby opened the blinds, which scared it off bird hunting. He usually gets a squirrel for a treat, but we wish he’d take more.
We spent as much time outside today as possible to soak up the sun before the big snow storm due tomorrow. Finally took down the Christmas lights, which we had left up in support of the medical professionals.
