I’ve been increasingly frustrated at work because of a few issues brewing on my team. I thought I’d chill by participating in a social team meeting where we did an online escape room via video conference. It only made me more frustrated; I had no clue what any of it was about. A few of us “older women” ended up watching the millennial men really get into it and solve the puzzles, none of which I even knew what they were. We ended up turning off our mics and cameras. I walked away to fold a basketful of rags laundered a couple days ago. You know things are bad when folding rags is more engaging than play. Give me a good old-fashioned crossword puzzle any day. Heck, I’d even do a Sudoku—and this from a person who doesn’t do numbers.

To improve my mood, I went into the garden to harvest my salad for lunch: the first cucumber of the season, peas, lettuce, and celery. Yes, it was delicious. I love my salads but I also love eating out, so on an afternoon bike ride I stopped by a new local restaurant (part of a chain) called True Food Kitchen. We’d been to before, it’s a long drive away. Glad to have this one near us now. Ordered a turkey burger with sweet potato hash to go. Yes, it was delicious.

Today is International Dark & Stormy Day, but apparently this refers to a drink. Regardless, it was dark and looking stormy today. Keep hoping for rain to dampen growing things—like the grass seed lying dormant under the straw after the yard was torn up from the egress work. The mice have probably eaten most of the seed by now, since scattering grass seed on concrete-like clay isn’t an effective method for germination. Tomorrow the rains will come, just in time to wash out a baseball game I’m supposed to go to. Never mind, it will get me out of the house at least.

Speaking of leaving the house, we were informed that my local office will begin allowing us to come back into the office beginning mid-June for a day or two a week. We have to book the time at our desks and we have to wear masks, but that’s okay with me. I’m sure I’ll be grateful for an escape when the basement construction starts next month. Watch this space.
