This morning I clicked the Publish button on Amazon for my latest book, which means it should be available any day (as soon as Amazon approves). It’s National White Wine Day, so I bought a bottle to celebrate my book, although I’m waiting to open it when the publication is official. (It’s also National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, but I’m resisting the urge.)
One of the contractors was here jackhammering the basement floor for the bathroom plumbing. The noise was carefully timed to coincide with my teaching an online class. In anticipation I moved my work office upstairs to a spare bedroom; class taught with no interruptions.
At work I had a video conference with a work-related membership group of Old Fogies. We talked about what we want to do in retirement and how we’re planning for that. I mentioned my 5-year plan to support me and Hubby with my creative writing earnings so I can stop working for The Man someday. One woman said she could never imagine herself retiring. I wonder how many of us will be working well past traditional retirement age either because we can’t afford to stop working or because 65 is the new 45 and we’ll be living well into our 90s. Like my fellow Old Fogy member, I can’t imagine myself retiring per se; it will just be a switch in focus from technical writing to creative writing.
Our other long-term plan is to buy land in the country and rewild part of it (Hubby), while operating a retreat space in the large house (me). Holding that vision.
Was a beautiful afternoon for a leisurely bike ride through town center, admiring the flowers and enjoying the distant company of strangers out and about.
