Fridays at the office have become a great respite for me. The change in scenery from working at home, and the quiet office with just the right amount of folk to make it not lonely, is something to look forward to every week. I go in on Mondays too, but Fridays, with the weekend ahead are meeting-free wrap-up times; purging of the To Read file; enjoying the scenery from the 14th floor; oh, and getting unlimited free snacks and drinks (which isn’t always a good thing).
After work, I dropped off a copy of my latest book at a friend’s house and went for a walk in a park I don’t get to often, along the Potomac River. Mid-70s, breezy, and low humidity—the perfect way to end the work week.
Hubby and I finished another puzzle this evening. His closet is bursting with White Mountain brand puzzles we’ve done. We have them for sale on Craigslist but everyone wants to trade; no one wants to buy, and Hubby is picky about his puzzles. We’re going to have to start over come winter. It’s funny how remarkably difficult they seem when you spread the pieces out on the table and begin fitting them together. It doesn’t seem possible, yet you manage, even the tiny-piece ones, with large patches of sky or water that all look the same color. Puzzles have taught me to focus on one small aspect of a thing rather than try to bite off large chunks, which was my habit. Everything is a lesson if you’re open to seeing it.
