Rode my bike to the office this morning. It’s much quieter there these days since they invoked the mask mandate even while sitting at our desks. For a while we could unmask at our desks, but the delta variant has increased infection rates in the county, so here we are. I thought I’d stop coming when that happened but realized I needed the break from home and to see people. Today, the launched the coffee bar, complete with barista making specialty drinks. I craved a decalf mocha cappuccino but they didn’t have chocolate syrup (quel horror!), which was really a good thing for my body health but a bummer for my psychological health. I opted for the regular cappuccino with almond milk, which I can make myself with the machines we have available to us in the micro-kitchens. But I wanted to support their grand opening.
When I arrived home, Hubby had put together our new turbo-sized bike rack, which I can just about lift onto the tail hitch. While he futzed with the particulars, I rode to the cemetery for my afternoon decompression walk. Any good feelings resulting from said walk were soon challenged when we decided to watch the documentary “Kiss the Ground.” (Spoiler alert: there is hope, but….) The message: time to love this planet, folks (even the squirrels and chipmunks that sometimes dig up your stuff). Love is the answer.
