The day started with a nice sleep-in since the clocks went back an hour to what I call “normal” time. I really wish whatever powers that be would abolish this ridiculousness of Daylight “Saving” Time, which saves nothing and only causes health, productivity, and other potentially serious problems when we move the clocks forward. After the nice lie-in, Hubby and I went to my sister’s house to help them out for an hour or so in their limited mobility capacity.
In celebration of Zero Tasking Day, we both spent most of it working—me continuing to set up the new basement and Hubby doing endless work in the garden.
We picked up the new Amish armoire that I bought on my birthday for the basement. I finished putting the rest of the binding on the guest room carpet and then decided it would be nice to have padding underneath it. We had a large roll leftover from another carpeting job, which was handy. And now the room looks awesome and comfortable. Our part-time bi-weekly tenant will be mighty pleased when he returns in a couple of weeks. We were going to attempt the forest wallpaper in the yoga room, but decided to leave it for the professional—whenever I can get him out here.
While Hubby watched his rugby this evening, I did a Zoom call with my family from the basement. Originally I was hoping he would watch his rugby in the new space, but I’m finding it quite nice for hanging out myself. When the heat’s on, it’s actually warmer in the basement than on the main level. I look forward to it being a cooler space to hang out in the summer. I also look forward to hitting the hay tonight.
Today’s gratitude: In recognition of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week and Polar Bear Week, I’m grateful for polar bears and that animals have shelter until they find permanent homes.
