Sis and I went to Mom’s this morning with the intent of bringing her back to the house for the day. But her stomach was still upset and she vomited before we arrived. She was feeling a little better when we arrived and managed to eat a whole piece of toast. We sat with her for a little while to see whether she’d start to feel better. Then we had to tell her the news about one of her best friends dying earlier this week. The news shocked her, and we cried together. We ended up staying for a couple of hours and talking on speaker phone to Montana Sis (supporting role in S3E1 of “Yellowstone”). By lunchtime she felt only marginally better. We left her in her room with an aid to sort out bringing her some broth for lunch.
We headed back to the house for lunch and then strolled through the village. There’s a new book shop in town, plus a few shishi shops catering to those who can afford $600 sweaters. I took Sis home and went back to visit Mamacita. She had fallen again trying to get out of bed. The aids were helping her when I walked in. We sat her down in the chair again and I showed her the pictures I’ve been taking daily. She was feeling much better although still didn’t want to eat anything. But then one of the young kitchen helpers came by with a bowl of ice cream, and low and behold, Mamacita found her appetite again! She ate the whole thing in just several minutes. At supper time she was hungry enough to eat and wanted to go to the dining room. Hallelujah! I put some Christmas socks on her, and the aid got her loaded up on the scooter to head down to the dining room. She was too weak to use the rollator. I got her settled at the table in the dining room and said goodbye for the evening.
Today is National Pay Back Your Parents Day, so I guess I’ve been doing that. My little mama is worth every bit of effort.
