Moral March and Mindfulness
Last week I discussed my new blog topic, Foresight 2020, which will explore some of the ideas many great thinkers and leaders are putting forward to promote thriving societies. My hands are currently full with a lot of things (new book coming this fall!), so I’ll be delving into that topic little by little. In the meantime, I want to stay in touch with you, my readers. I’m including one way you can get involved as well as a link to fun animation about mindfulness.
First, I want to give a shout-out to those who will be graduating this spring. You may be experiencing dashed dreams, but I hope you can find opportunity in this scary situation to redirect humanity’s path for a better world. Congratulations and chin up! We are counting on your strength and motivation, and we have faith in you. Here’s a commencement quote from writer and blogger James Clear:
Wealth is the power to choose.
Financial wealth is the power to choose how to spend money.
Social wealth is the power to choose who to hang out with.
Time wealth is the power to choose how to spend your day.
Mental wealth is the power to choose how to spend your attention.
You can help advance the reality of a better world by joining the Moral March on Washington. The actual march on June 20 has been cancelled, but there will be online activities. It’s being billed as the poor people’s campaign and is sponsored by multiple faith organizations and social justice groups. The event draws attention to the unfathomable inequities in America and invites us change the narrative through peaceful action, to help transform our society from a “war economy” to a “peace economy.” The website has a toolkit, videos, and other information for how you can participate to truly make America great again; that is, to be an empathic society that leaves no one behind.
And I leave you with this superpower freebie about mindfulness. It’s a short and amusing animation that invites you to learn how to respond wisely to things that happen rather than reacting blindly. It can help you cope even with life’s biggest curve balls.
If you have ideas or strategies you’d like to share about reinventing how live to improve the lives of all, send me an email. I’ll write about them in future posts.
Remember to take care of yourself. Read more about self-care on this website. For the time being, my memoir is available at a reduced price on Kindle ($5.99).
Be well.
