My fellow blogger and travel retreater extraordinaire, Heidi Eliason<\/a>, posted a link recently on her blog. She and I both know the healing power of Nature<\/a>. Do you?<\/p>\n

For those of you who like science to back up claims, this article has some of that. I have personally done \u201cforest bathing<\/a>\u201d simply by taking long walks in the woods. I\u2019ve also personally planted, or organized the planting of, thousands of trees.<\/p>\n

But nature doesn\u2019t have to involved trees. Walk or roll along a river or through a field or in a garden. You can also play recordings of nature sounds (I love birdsong and babbling brooks) or gaze at a picture of soothing nature scenes such as rivers, forests, mountains, prairies, or gardens. Devise your own retreat in nature, which I wrote about in a previous post.<\/p>\n

Next week we\u2019ll interview my friend Sam Iverson, who retreats every year by volunteering for a cause\u2014conservation. Sam knows the healing power of nature, which is why she volunteers her time to conservation for one month every year.<\/p>\n
