January 2, take 3. I say “take 3” because while typing, WordPress suddenly deleted my entire post\u2014twice! The first time I shouted some choice R-rated words; the second time, I just rolled with it because I was typing while also on a Zoom call and I didn\u2019t want to alarm my fellow Zoomers. So\u2026<\/p>\n
Sunny and mild today, so Hubby and I rode our bikes about 10 miles or so around a new subdivision out in the country, which was farmland and forest not all that long ago. We\u2019ve seen a lot of development in the past 20 years. Where is everyone coming from and what do they do for work to afford these McMansions on 1-acre lots? More importantly, where does the wildlife go when they plow down the forests and build swimming pools and playsets on wild meadowlands? These things weigh on my mind and heart.<\/p>\n
Hubby spent time in his garden, building more of his wooden boardwalk between the beds, a project he started last summer. His garden is his soul work. We still have greens growing, enough for green drinks and to share with a few friends for stir-fry.<\/p>\n
Yesterday while de-cluttering and taking down the Christmas decorations, I came across a stack of music CDs that Hubby bought at a rummage sale. We have hundreds of CDs, including many I brought to the marriage. I used to listen to music all the time, but in the past 23 years or so, I\u2019ve hardly spun a disc. Hubby, on the other hand, listens to music, podcasts, and audiobooks all the time and especially while working. As a technical writer for engineers\u2014my day job\u2014I can\u2019t listen to lyrics while working otherwise I might accidentally type \u201cOh baby, baby, please don\u2019t leave me\u201d right in the middle of writing instructions for bypassing an uninterruptible power supply. Rumors might get started. So this year I\u2019m going to go through the whole electic collection by listening to CDs while cooking and puttering around the house. So far the list has included Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt (here\u2019s looking at you, DDMTZ), Dire Straights, Grace Kelly, and see item #1 below.<\/p>\n
