My employer gave us two free days off this holiday\u2014today and December 18\u2014bookending Christmas and the New Year. I tried logging onto my work computer today to check my calendar. I like to know what time I need to start the day in case someone scheduled an early meeting. My password wasn\u2019t recognized, which is funny because it\u2019s the one I used the last time I logged in on December 17. Maybe it was my employer\u2019s way of letting us know we had today off? Or has my computer read my mind and noted that I\u2019d really rather not return to work? Staring at the monitor didn\u2019t seem to produce any answers, nor did it help with the login process.<\/p>\n
I spent part of my break catching up on the busywork I plague myself with. Having a full-time job and trying to launch a creative writing career so that it will support us without my having to work for the man is like having two full-time jobs. Throw all the household and life maintenance work into the mix, and really, it\u2019s a three-shift life I lead. It\u2019s a wonder I get any sleep at all.<\/p>\n
Although I\u2019m a highly organized person, who likes to make lists and check things off, I\u2019m good for about a week before my brain goes chasing something shiny and I give up on the list. I\u2019m trying the giant-white-board-in-your-face approach. Hubby was using it in the basement to track his workout routine, But seeing as how \u201csitups,\u201d pullups,\u201d Burpees,\u201d etc., had been scribbled on the board and left unchanged for the past three years, I figured he either had the routine memorized or wasn\u2019t using it (I think the latter, judging by how infrequently he spends time in the workout area). Will having this board with days of the week and what I want to accomplish each day help me tackle the lists? It\u2019s going to be hard to escape it when it\u2019s hanging up in the room I spend 80% of time in.<\/p>\n
