\u201cGreat day in the morning!\u201d my grandfather you used to say. He meant different things by it: \u201cWell, what d\u2019ya know?\u201d \u201cHoly cow!\u201d \u201cGoodness gracious!\u201d Today that phrase has been going through my head, and I\u2019m using it to express my utter elation that we now have a new president and congress.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also excited about having the first woman, and of color, as vice president. Simultaneously I\u2019ve been wondering, Really Americans? It\u2019s 2021 and we\u2019re FINALLY getting around to electing a woman to the second highest office in the land? Not the HIGHEST, but the SECOND highest?<\/em> Having a woman in office both thrills me and saddens me\u2014saddens me that it\u2019s taken us so long. We\u2019re still a nation of misogynists (and racists).<\/p>\n

I did a happy dance as I watched Air Force One on my computer screen whisking away the former POTUS.<\/p>\n
