Mom moved back to her room today, exhausted and, I\u2019m guessing, happy to be home again. The bad news is she\u2019s on Covid quarantine for another 14 days because she\u2019s returning from the hospital. The good news is she\u2019s been put on a wellness plan which will require several people coordinating efforts to help her adjust to the move to the new facility and lifestyle. And it includes integrating her into activities that are appropriately physically distanced to accommodate the quarantine. My sister was able to get Mom settled in her room; she said just before she left that Mom told her she wanted to write a guide for growing old. \u201cIt has to be written by someone old, not a young person.\u201d But of course! My first guideline would be: Accept what you can\u2019t change and find ways to be content despite yourself. Easier said than done, I\u2019m sure. And when dementia has a hand in the card game, it does change things.<\/p>\n
Another hot day\u201486 degrees. It\u2019s been a while since I sweated on my walk. I headed down a path I hadn\u2019t been along for a while and one where Hubby and I had picked up trash along a few months ago on a rainy Sunday morning.
