It\u2019s all cicadas all the time. Enjoy these pictures of the lifecycle of the Brood X cicada. Our neighbor\u2019s fence is a regular living biology lab, starting with the nymph crawling up the fence or nearby tre and hatching into an adult. They\u2019re white when they first hatch but have those red eyes. After a few hours they turn black and ready for sex! We stopped to view the \u201clab\u201d on the fence on a walk into our little town. We bought some muffins at the bread store and then headed home by way of some friends, another British expat couple, who live near us and whom we haven\u2019t seen much in the past few years. Hubby opened their underground sprinkler system for the season.<\/p>\n

Our neighbors on the cul du sac around the corner had a block party this afternoon. I wheeled my knee scooter over to sit a spell and meet people I\u2019ve seen on my periodic walks around that block. Mostly young families, with a few \u201colder\u201d folk like me. I\u2019ll enjoy getting to know them better. Later, I took a bike ride around the cemetery.<\/p>\n
