Today is National Road Trip Day, so we\u2019re driving to Mom\u2019s for a long weekend visit, and we won\u2019t arrive until close to midnight. Spent today getting housey things done that should have done a long time ago (like getting my computer internet security sorted out, getting a replacement tank for one of the toilets whose auto flush stopped working), as well as more recent to-dos. I\u2019ve secured a storage pod for the basement finish work, which starts in July and made a few executive decisions about what in the basement will get given away or sold instead of getting stored. I had my follow-up appointment with the foot doctor today, who scolded me for self-matriculating me out of the boot. She took more x-rays, which showed that the chipped bone on my inner ankle was indeed a result of this most recent injury and that it had pulled farther away from the bone it should be attached to instead of fusing with it (as a result of my not wearing the boot). When she wanted me to come to the x-ray lightbox to look at the recent pictures, she stuck her head in the examine room door and beckoned me with an index finger\u2014not unlike my mother used to do when she wanted me to follow her to show me something I had done that she was displeased about. The doctor threatened to put a cast on my foot if I didn\u2019t start wearing the boot again. So\u2026.I got the boot. And she also fitted me with a shoe lift so that I don\u2019t have to walk with a pronounced, and terribly uncomfortable, limp caused by the unevenness of my booted foot. I told her if she had sold that to me before, I might not have booted the boot. My excuse didn\u2019t fly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
