Slow day, which is good because I\u2019ve been so tired lately. I think it\u2019s the hobbling around for the past three weeks and feeling somewhat frustrated because I don\u2019t have the full use of my foot. (And my eyes have been irritated, but the eye doc put me on a regime for that.) I\u2019ve been wearing the boot, to appease my doctor who threatened to put me in a cast if I didn\u2019t, but I\u2019ve been taking it off to go out and using the knee scooter to keep weight off it. When I come back in the house, putting my boot back on makes me feel like a bird going back into a cage. I realize all this is relative; some people can\u2019t walk at all, permanently. And all things considered, I\u2019ve been pretty good natured about it. Even Hubby says I\u2019ve been \u201creally patient,\u201d which, coming from my personal patience gauge and monitor of my control-freak behavior, is quite the compliment. I\u2019ll take it.<\/p>\n

Got on my bike for a 10-mile ride, dodging the cicadas, which seem to be at their peak now. Earlier in the day I was standing in my front yard chatting with the contractor, and we could barely hear above the noise. I must have flicked ten of the little blighters off my person while standing there. They\u2019re kinda cool, but I won\u2019t miss the noise when they\u2019re gone in another couple weeks. The contractor promises to remove the various lawn ornaments that have been sitting on my property for a month or more. Red Clay Mountain outside the bedroom window may be flattened soon as well.<\/p>\n

Had a family Zoom discussion this evening with my sisters and sister-cousins. We talked about grace and courage and listening for the spirit and how we move in this world. As I get older, the importance of these conversations grows, especially when we can\u2019t all be together in person. Patience, Grasshopper.<\/p>\n
