<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"This morning I went for a very short walk in North Park in the Pittsburgh suburbs, a place near where my grandparents used to live decades ago. They would take us there when we visited, and we\u2019d feed the ducks bread crumbs or sometimes corn. It\u2019s a massive park with lakes and trails and playgrounds; I have a lot of pleasant memories of going there with them 45+ years ago. The park people have recently built a little island, accessed by a short bridge just off one of the little lake\u2019s shore, for fisherpersons. My dad would have loved this.<\/p>\n
Later in the morning, my sister and I met up with our other sister and her husband for breakfast at First Watch. We used to have one of these where we live, but it shut down years ago, unfortunately. They have the best breakfast and lunch menu for healthy and wholesome food. Okay, so maybe pancakes with lemon curd aren\u2019t exactly healthy, but they sure were delish!<\/p>\n
We had a second service for Uncle Dave at the retirement center where they live. There was a healthy turnout of residents to remember him and celebrate his life. My aunt was in good spirits and looking lovely. We all enjoyed our time with the cousins and meeting Dave\u2019s family by a first marriage. I wish we could have stayed another day catching up. I\u2019ll have to make a point to get up for a visit with Auntie sometime again this year.<\/p>\n
When I arrived home early this evening, Hubby had surprised me by tidying up the area around the pond. I\u2019ve been complaining about it getting too jungly (he likes a jungle). It doesn\u2019t take long for vegetation in this part of the world to grow big. Love it now! We\u2019ve been letting the garden and yard have their own way this summer, mostly because of our injured feet preventing us from being able to do the hard work of getting things under control. It\u2019s teaching me patience and reminding me that not everything has to be tidy and controlled.<\/p>\n
