Two years ago I never would have thought going to the office for work would be considered a break. I\u2019m grateful that my employer feeds us, although the endless snacks and drinks can be dangerous for the body. I\u2019m also grateful that I get to take home some leftovers\u2014as is Hubby. I\u2019ve become quite adept at operating the barista machine and making myself a decaf cappuccino twice a week. I\u2019m beginning to see more and more people, even though coming in is entirely voluntary for at least another six weeks. I know one person who comes in every day.<\/p>\n
In celebration of Health Care Coordinators Day, the FDA approved the coronavirus vaccine, and come next month, anyone who wants to come into a building my employer owns must have one. It\u2019s caused quite a stir. A few weeks ago I was more sympathetic toward those who were choosing not to vaccinate (and not for valid medical reasons), but I\u2019m leaning toward supporting the mandates. I don\u2019t want to see people punished, but I do believe access to services, such as admission to restaurants and events, should be limited to the vaccinated. It\u2019s not a government conspiracy or a Bill Gates fake-out, yet people will believe what they want.<\/p>\n
On the way home I stopped by my sister\u2019s house to drop something off and walked away with a couple of bags full of mushrooms from Kennet Square, PA, the Mushroom Capital of the World. I see soup and a mushroom tart in our near future.<\/p>\n
After a week of rain, we\u2019re in for more heat and humidity. August isn\u2019t finished with the Midatlantic yet. But the good news is I am back to normal walking with only the slightest twinge in ye old chipped ankle bone, while Hubby has declared himself pain-free as well. Those plantar warts of his seemed to have been replaced by large callouses, so says the foot and ankle orthopedist. Therefore, treating them with the old acid-and-scrape regimen for the past several months may have been a wasted effort\u2014a painful one. Hard to know who has the correct diagnosis: the orthopedist or the podiatrist? According the former, the warts have gone away and custom shoes are called for. Cue the shrugging of shoulders.<\/p>\n
