First day of autumn, noted here today with warm but drizzly skies. Spent most of it preparing for my interview next week for the new role at my company\u2014and feeling less of the imposter syndrome that plagues the best of us. At long chat with my would-be new manager helped eased my mind; she\u2019s already talking like I have the job, telling me which teams I\u2019d be working with and where my energy would be focused. I think I\u2019ll be happy on that team. But these transitions aren\u2019t necessarily in the bag, even if the interview process feels like just a box to tick to satisfy HR. Until the interviewers write \u201cstrong yes,\u201d on their evaluations, the hiring committee green stamps me, and the ink is dry on the offer letter, I\u2019m not counting any beans before they\u2019re boiled.<\/p>\n
For exercise, Hubby and I went mall walking, which we\u2019ve been known to resort to when the weather is completely unsuitable or, as in today\u2019s case, we want to snoop around a couple of shops and get the legs moving without the trouble of weather. As we were about to pull into a parking space, I waited for a man with two little girls in tow to move out of the way. When they passed by the driver\u2019s side of our car, one of the girls (all of about four) shouted, \u201cThanks for not running us over!\u201d with a large, grateful smile on her face. I shouted back, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t do that!\u201d and everyone laughed. These little encounters with children light up my day. God bless them and the people who raise the next generation in a world full of uncertainty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
