Called in sick; 3 days running with a headache. Managed to get a few home things done, get my second shingles shot, and my annual eye examine (new prescription for reading and computer glasses).<\/p>\n

It is National Love People Day, which I\u2019m all for normally, but right now people suck in my opinion (mea culpa). I read a disturbing article in the New York Times about how the National Fish and Wildlife Service is about to declare 23 species extinct in this country. If you disagree\u2014because you can prove the existence of any one\u2014you have 3 months to make comments to the US Fish and Wildlife Service<\/a>. After that time, the species will join the official list of animals that Mankind has so selfishly purged from this planet. Many of these species haven\u2019t been seen for decades and were believed to be on the verge of extinction before they were even added to the Endangered List. Hawai\u2019i is the biggest loser, with 8 birds and 1 plant gone, dead (island species are always in a precarious situation). But really we are all losers. The canaries have long stopped singing in the coal mines. Extinction is forever, so let\u2019s remember their names:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
