Sill feeling a little cruddy but not so bad that a few miles hike around Morven Park in the morning wasn\u2019t in order. They\u2019re getting ready for a steeplechase event next weekend, and the jumps are works of art with nature. There must be tens and tens of courses and jumps scattered around the place\u2014guessing it\u2019s a couple hundred acres\u2019 worth. How those horses clear the breadth of some of those is amazing. Later tonight we watched a few past events on YouTube and were biting our fingernails. Hubby wants to go next week, but I think I\u2019d be a mess watching these lovely beasts risk a broken leg. We followed some of the jump routes before picking up one of our favorite mowed grass trails. The osage orange trees were heavy with fruit; you wouldn’t want to be standing under one when one of those babies cut loose.<\/p>\n

Later we went to an estate sale at an obscenely massive mansion, which we practically got lost in, with an unbelievable collection of French provincial antiques and all manner of artwork. Hubby bought a plastic toolbox, about the only thing within our price range even at 50% off for Sunday afternoon. We bailed out of two other estate sales because there were actual lines out the door waiting to get in.<\/p>\n

Other day\u2019s tasks: Transplanted a few houseplants that had been waiting for larger pots all summer (I could hear them thanking me). Hubby and I fixed my office door (without swearing or killing each other). Went in search of plastic plant pot saucers (which apparently have been hard hit with the supply chain issues) and ended up buying shallow Bakelite soup bowls at Target because that\u2019s all there is round these parts.<\/p>\n
