All was quiet at the house today; not a contractor in sight. I was expecting the deck guys, but they never showed\u2014and it was a warmer and sunny day for it, too. Took a break from work to stop by the office for lunch (bratwurst, chili, fried catfish, polenta, and a mix of salads). Haven\u2019t seen that many people there since moving into the new space in August 2019. The building management team said they\u2019d announce our permanent desk assignments on Friday at the all-hands meeting (I\u2019ll be on my way to NY to see Mamacita). I wonder if that means we can start sitting in our new spaces before too long without having to book a desk.<\/p>\n
Walked to the store this evening to get Hubby some milk and fulfill a request for gummy bears. I noticed the nearly full moon and wonder whether that\u2019s the reason for recent restless nights. I usually have trouble sleeping when the moon is full. Just as yesterday, I really enjoyed the dusk walk, changing into darkness. Winter may not sound like the best season to get in the habit of walking after dark; however, why not? A brisk walk\u2014while properly layered in warm clothes\u2014gets the cobwebs out. I spend way too much time inside come winter, and I don\u2019t think it\u2019s good for a person. I used to ski (downhill and cross-country), sled, ice skate, walk when the sidewalks were clear\u2026, but these days the best I can do is get out for a walk. What snow we do get usually falls in February, when we\u2019re tired of winter and begging for spring. According the Farmer\u2019s Almanac, we\u2019re on the fault line between \u201cQuite chilly, mixed bag of precipitation\u201d and \u201cTypical winter chill, stormy January, tranquil February,\u201d leaning toward the latter. Maybe I\u2019ll actually use my new cross-country skis Hubby bought me for Christmas 7 years ago (no, I\u2019ve never once used them; not enough snow around these parts).<\/p>\n
I had forgotten that November is National Gratitude Month and missed a few days of proclaiming my gratitudes. So today\u2019s is being grateful for the peace of evening walks\u2014and maybe a little snow for Christmas so I can use my skis. I know it’s early to be asking for snow at Christmas, but supply chains are messed up, so it can’t hurt to order early.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
